Exterior Carpenter Apprentice

Job Description

Join a dynamic team as a carpenter's helper at a leading construction company in Montrose, Minnesota. You will work on new build construction sites, assisting carpenters with setting and installing windows, hanging exterior doors, and applying house wrap to protect exterior wall framing from weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assist JM carpenters with daily tasks on construction sites.
• Work at heights with provided safety measures, including safety talks and fall protection.
• Set and install windows and exterior doors.
• Apply house wrap to protect exterior wall framing.
• Operate hand and power tools efficiently.
• Read blueprints and tape measures accurately.
• Perform general labor and installation tasks.

Essential Skills

• 6+ months of construction or general labor experience.
• Experience working on ladders with basic ladder safety knowledge.
• Ability to routinely lift 75 lbs.
• Proficiency in using basic hand tools such as a hammer, square, tape measure, and utility knife.
• Possession of a tool belt.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• OSHA 10 Certification.
• 1 year of Trade School.
• 3 years of experience in construction.
• High school diploma with some trade school preferred.
• Ability to carry a 36-foot extension ladder.

Work Environment

Work Monday through Friday with start times between 7:00 and 7:30 am. Avoid working in negative degree weather with year-round work availability. Participate in basic carpentry tasks and window installations at new construction sites. Be comfortable working on 36ft ladders and at heights. Work locations vary based on candidate location in the Twin Cities metro area, including areas such as Shakopee, Carver, Victoria, Chaska, Cottage Grove, Woodbury, IGH, Rosemount, and Farmington. Typical hours are during the first shift, from early morning to late afternoon.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
