Duties Description Applicants must be able to work independently as well as within groups. Must possess excellent organizational, time management and communication skills. Willing to drive between multiple work locations. Responsible for the nutritional care of service recipients living in the Intensive Treatment Option (ITO) at 620 Westfall Road, exact caseload to be determined and subject to change based upon the needs of the ITO, nutrition department and agency. This position requires strong clinical and food service skills. The selected candidate will complete nutrition assessments using an Electronic Health Record and develop nutrition prescriptions in accordance with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Clinical documentation to be completed per the nutrition department's clinical documentation expectations. This dietitian will communicate with health care providers, participate as part of an Interdisciplinary Program Planning Team, attend all pertinent meetings and provide input or attend pertinent appointments for the individuals on the assigned caseload. Will provide education and training to service recipients, family members, direct support staff and others. This includes training and technical support on food safety and sanitation, the statewide Choking Prevention Initiative Guidelines, general nutrition, and other topics related to the field of food and nutrition. Provide group nutrition eduation classes, as well as, individual nutritional counseling. Write and approve menus, as well as review subsequent substitutions or changes to ensure they are appropriate and meet the nutritional needs of those living in the ITO. Conduct routine meal observations. Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding clinical documentation and the overall meal service and food safety and sanitation. Assist in teaching New Employee Orientation Meal Management Training as scheduled. Minimum Qualifications Promotion:Current registration with the CDR as an RD or certification as a Dietitian-Nutritionist by the NYSED, and one year of service as a Dietitian 1.Open Competitive: Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or New York State Education Department (NYSED) certification in dietetics-nutrition and have completed a minimum of an additional 400 hours of supervised dietetics practice under the supervision of an RD.Maintains current certification in New York State as a Certified Dietitian/Nutritionist.Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/c status in the posted title and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1, 70.4, or 52.6 of Civil Service Law. Additional Comments This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title.At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status.
